Halloween 2009

Halloween has come and gone, and the in-laws are on their way back home after a fun-filled weekend. We carved pumpkins, dressed up, and were lucky enough that the rain held off long enough to finish setting up the haunt AND go trick-or-treating. It was a perfectly spooky night, overcast and just breezy enough to blow the leaves around. It's hard to believe it's over already & time to put it all away again until next year. Here's some highlights, and if you missed my last post showing you our full 'haunt', go HERE.

This year's addition, the Witch Doctor. The picture doesn't do it justice, as you can't see the red lights in the fire, or the purple smoking cauldron - it looked REALLY cool & turned out much better than we expected!

Pumpkin Edward in his place of honor in the foyer. The teen girls went C.R.A.Z.Y. over him :)

Jason, wondering what the heck is going on
Sarah, the sweetest little witch you've ever seen. She's still wearing her costume.

The whole gang - 2 Captain Kirks, 2 witches, a ninja (Evie couldn't find the mask in her room - BIG SHOCK THERE!) and Batman. Or Lego Batman, as William likes to say :)

And finally, after trick or treating was finished we had some neighbors and friends back to the house for drinks and dessert. This is what 13 kids aged 2 to 10 do to a room in 1.5 hours. I guess it could have been a lot worse!

I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween as well! We have one more birthday to celebrate (Jason's 2nd), and then we can catch our breath before the big Christmas push.

  1. I love how into the halloween spirit your whole family is!

Lego Batman...Riley is obsessed with lego batman lately! Him and William would get along great.

  2. What a cute family all dressed up!

Does someone else have a daughter with a room like mine?

  3. my Halloween sucked.
I am coming to your place next year. Could that room hold four more kids?
Tell your hubby to make me a costume...
    see you next Oct 31...

  4. Your witch doctor looks pretty cool! (So original!) I am sad though, our boys' bedrooms look like your play room 24/7...

  5. Wow, what an adorable family all dressed up. And I hope the halloween fairy came and cleaned your house after that party. :)

  6. Great family memories! Love that pic of you all dressed up. :)

  7. Laura...I must confess Jen makes the costumes (I only handle the decorations). But, we'd love to have you out next year...the playroom can handle 4 more kids and I do love to bartend. :-)

  8. Great photos, my play room looked like that before we headed out trick or treating and I only had 8 kids all over the age of 7!

  9. That pic of Jason is soooo cute! Looks like a great Halloween. Amazing how quickly a room can be destroyed when you add a few kids, huh?

  10. I love Halloween and I am SO glad that it is now Thanksgiving. I'm finding that I like it more and more every year!

  11. Cute family photos!! Hope is was a fun night!

  12. You guys are all so cute!
And look! There's your beautiful crafty desk that your husband made you right in the middle of that toy tornado! :)
BTW, that pic of Jason is priceless. Too cute!

  13. Sure looks like everyone had a blast this Halloween. And that Edward pumpkin, I have three words: OH. MY. GOSH. I may not have been able to resist pilfering that if I had the chance to come to your house. That is awesome! :-D

  14. You guys all look so great! I love that you and Matt dress up, too! And of course I knew it was Lego Batman (he's sooo cool), I mean c'mon!

If I had Sarah's adorable costume, I'd still be wearing it too!

Coming to your neighborhood next year to see this fabulous display!

    xoxo ~Lisa

  15. It looks like so much fun!
Don't you love those muscle costumes?

  16. Very Cool Witch Doctor!

Love your costumes and what the heck is a lego batman?

  17. how fun! OMG that room....Im sure it was worth it though :)

  18. Cute, cute pictures!!! I got a really exciting package today!!!! I am going to light him up tonight and stare at him all evening!

Thanks so much - I really appreciate all of the time and trouble that went into making him and sending him to me. Just to let you know - I LOVE HIM!!!

    You are the best!

  19. Oh, it could have been much, much worse!

I love that you got a family photo. I haven't done a Halloween post yet but I did post a family Halloween photo on my family blog (

  20. wow! look at that room! I guess when their fueled up on that much sugar crazy stuff happens! Your halloween decor is super amazing! So impressed! Sending you good running vibes!

  21. I LOVE it all! Your kiddos looked adorable! Your lawn decor was aweosme! I'm totally in love with your pumpkin Edward. I never got around to making one for Halloween, but is it too late? Is it ever too late for a pumpkin Edward? I didn't think so. Isaiah had the same Batman costume as William. He wore it to 4 parties and trick-or-treating. It's currently in the washer, but I'm sure it'll be back on as soon as it's clean. He loved the muscles especially. =)

Hope you're having a great day!

  22. Loving Pumpkin Edward....I think the moms around here go more crazy for Edward than the girls...

  23. Those pictures are great!

I'm glad you clarified the skeleton, I didn't know it was supposed to be a witch doctor. I thought it was a hula dancer!

  24. I love toddlers on Halloween who don't really understand the whole gig. This year my nephew turned 4 and for the first time understood how AWESOME Halloween is.

  25. What a great time you all had! Esp. the kids, a trashed room is a sure sign of fun! lol :) Love all your pics!
