The Annual Christmas Card Photo Shoot
It's that time of year again. Yes, where I dress the kids up in coordinating outfits and try to get one decent photo of them to mail out with the Christmas cards to all the people who probably never hear from us for the rest of the year. And also the people we see on a regular basis.
Now, I've said it before and I'll say it again - I have too many children. Yes, I know some of you out there have more than four. I used to think more than three was just plain crazy. But here we are with four.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get a decent picture of four kids? Where they are all looking somewhat pleasant and, more importantly, in the same direction?
Next to impossible. They say a picture is worth a thousand words:
That was just 7 of the 33 pictures we took, unedited for your viewing pleasure. Here's the one we chose, cropped and tweaked with Picassa:

Merry Christmas from our house to yours!
I feel for ya. I'm so there, only with one less child :) They're adorable, though! I love the one where Jason is playing itsy bitsy spider {?}
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are so darn cute. I know how hard it is to get everyone looking good in the same picture. Last year we had to photoshop my son's head into the one that we used.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Jen
Ohhhh man can I relate!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures... your kids are very cute! Happy Holidays to you as well : )
Still haven't bothered to do a photo or a card. Guess everyone will have to receive Elf Yourself;)
ReplyDeleteWell first I had to laugh out loud scrolling down from pic to pic...Evie is obviously a Mini-Jen, William looks just like your Dad and Jason looks just like Matt. Who does Sarah take after?
ReplyDeleteLove the one you chose, they look so happy! To anonymous, Sarah is a mini-jen...see jen's baby pictures from a while ago. It's eery!
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet, those pictures made me chuckle. I thought I had it bad trying to get a picture with 2! They are all so darling!

ReplyDeleteI definitely noticed that the difficulty in taking a good picture went up exponentially after introducing a second child. I think it's amazing that you don't have to medicate yourself (or the kids) in order to get these pictures! Good work!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! That is so cute Jen, I swear, I thought it was hard getting 2 kids to cooperate...but all 4?! Geez, you deserve an award! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love that one of your youngest peeking through his fingers!!
ReplyDeleteCome read about my experience trying to get my dogs to pose for a picture.
I've always thought we should send out the worst one..."This is our family, People...THIS!" LOL!
ReplyDeleteI think you got a great shot!
cute!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I tried so hard to get a good one with my four. I didn't get one where they are all smiling. In fact, my princess does not have a sweet expression on her face in any of the pictures. I had to settle for one where they are all looking at the camera.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures! The one you chose is so sweet.
I recently went through this with my own 4 kids aged 8 to 2. I thought to myself "oh a picture with my four children...wouldn't that be nice". Once I got to the studio, I started getting second thoughts! The poor photographer, my 2 year old did not want to be in it and was walking out of the shot. She finally got a stool for her to stand on. Then my 5 year old was making these really weird grins where his eyes were closed and he raised his chin really high?!? The two older girls kept on asking "can we dress up!?! can we dress up?!?!" to which we replied, "the dress up is for babies sweetie, they wouldn't fit you" to which they both repied "awwwww" but were really thinking "maybe if I squeezed them on, they would fit". HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!! I always think the "rejects" are the cutest ones!!!
ReplyDelete~Becca
I love them ALL!!! I think a little collage of all the rejects would be cute! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week!♥
he he he! It is the MOST difficult thing to get the "perfect" picture! Our picture this year is hideous! The outtakes are HILARIOUS! I love the shot you selected! :)
