Makeover! Evie's not-quite Tween bedroom re-do

Way back in January I decided it was time to re-do Evie's room. Her bedroom was one of the first rooms we painted when we moved here almost 8 years ago, back when she was 18 months old. I thought Vintage Pink was the perfect color for my baby girl! And it really was such a pretty pink - too bad Evie was more into dinosaurs and animals than anything pink and girly. Fast-forward 7 years, and this is what her room looked like - holes in the walls from where we'd moved pictures & changed out curtain rods, a dinosaur border stenciled around the ceiling, and Winnie the Pooh pictures still hanging on the wall where her crib used to be. She also has a fondness for tape. Take a look:

Looking at these pictures now, I am so glad I have them, because now I'm a little sad! It looks NOTHING like this anymore - which in some ways is good, as I think her room now really reflects her personality more than the pink - but in some ways, I'm sad to see the dinosaurs and the pink gone, because that phase - my expectations of what my baby girl would be like melded with bits of her own personality - has been replaced with something else. Anyway - here's Evie's new room! I wonder how long it will stay neat and tidy like this:

The framed section painted black is magnetic paint. Don't think I'd do it again, but it's useful.
Silver trim around the frame :)
Her pink chair from last summer is now black, with a bit of silver!

I painted her room while she was at camp this weekend, with a good bit of help from Matt. It was 2-1/2 days of solid work, but I'm so happy with the way it turned out! I picked her up from camp Wednesday morning, and was excited to see her reaction when we got home - I think she likes it :)

Jason was really glad to have her home :)

So I'm off! I'm leaving today for BlogHer in NYC! This was a last-minute spur of the moment thing that we're squeezing in before we head to Orlando on Monday morning. I'm meeting Laura from Piece of Cake there and I am absolutely positive we will have a fantastic time - assuming of course, I don't collapse from the stress of driving myself into the city to get a train to NY, and THEN getting a cab to the hotel - ALL BY MYSELF. Time to put my Big Girl panties on, I guess. Wish me luck :)

  9. Between this post and the last one, I'm realizing that our Evie's have so much in common in addition to the name!

I LOVE the room makeover! I did MY Eve's a couple years ago and she's probably ready for a new one. I am not.

Why wouldn't you do the magnetic paint again? That seems like a great idea since my Eve, too, is a big fan of taping things to her walls.
