Extreme Makeover - Me Edition

It's Wednesday again and that means it's Extreme Makeover - Me Edition over at Amber's! What a great way to get positive feedback and encouragement from lots of gals who are trying to accomplish the same thing I am - taking care of myself, and making it a priority to be healthy and exercise. If you'd like to join in on the fun, head over to {aefilkins} to get the scoop on how to participate!

My Progress For the Week

Last week I was actually doing pretty well. I haven't had a problem sticking to the exercise plan I'm following (training for a 10k race May 2nd), at least until yesterday. I think the late nights finally caught up with me; yesterday was supposed to be strength training and a 2 mile run; short story is, I got the run in (figured that was more important) but skipped the weights. and now I have guilt, because the little OCD devil in my head knows I missed it. I'm telling him to shut up :-)

Food-wise, that's a different story. Mr. Scale is weighing heavy this week (gravity maybe? no?) probably due to the salty ham, wine, and other yummies I've indulged in. It's spring break here this week so we're trying to do some fun things with the kids, so lunch yesterday was out of the house and I had a yummy Italian sub - Heaven! I love those things. So, just when I was starting to see some progress in the numbers, something comes along to give me a setback. Seems like it's ALWAYS SOMETHING, no?

Anway - the question of the week is:

What are you going to do this week to get yourself back on track?

I am going to STICK STICK STICK to watching what I put in my mouth this week! NO dipping into the kids' Easter baskets. Because once I taste one, well what's one more? or one more? so NO TASTING! and I think I'm going to skip my weekly doughnut at the grocery store today :-) because I don't need it. Might as well just sit on it, because that's where it will end up anyway. I must drink more water, and also get to bed earlier! I'm staying up way to late on the internet reading blogs :-)

So that's my story; hopefully next week I will be able to say I've lost a pound! That would be nice, since I've been at this for 6 weeks now. What's your story? I'd love to hear it, link up over at Amber's. Have a good one.

  1. I say hooray you got your run in!!! Being off on weights one day won't kill the deal.

I, too, pledge to watch what I put in my mouth! It seems everyone loved their kids Easter baskets...before, during and after Easter ;)

    Have a great week!

  2. I've been having this exact conversation with myself all week too. At least you went out for your run! Thanks for coming by my blog.

  3. Dang it Easter!

I think this is a good plan for the week and I'm proud of you for not getting that donut.

Oh Wednesday I usually get something naughty (fast food or Starbucks) but it's raining and I don't want to go out so that will save me for this week! LOL!

    Keep up the good work!

  4. I think you're doing great! You got a run in, that's wonderful. Exercise is where I'm having a problem, it seems. I just can't get motivated to get movin'! Anyway, keep up the great work, and know that you're not alone in stealing treats from Easter baskets. We're all right there with ya! :)

  5. You are one better than me...because you still got some exercise in. I guess I forgot to mention on my post that I did continue with the stairs at work...but having a few days off work it didn't seem like I did nearly as much as I usually do.

Great blog..I just became a follower! Looking forward to getting to know you better.

  6. I think you're doing awesome!! I'd be jumping up & down for joy if I ran 2 miles!! I did do Turbo Jam last night, so that made me happy.

    Don't beat yourself up though!!

    You're doing great!

  7. You got a run in? Yay for you! The hardest thing is to grab those precious few CONSECUTIVE minutes for yourself. With weights, you can always fit them in here and there. I have used my kids as weights before. Hold your little one and do squats.... balance, Jen, balance. :-)
Good for you on the Easter candy. You are a stronger woman than me.

  8. Well, Amber would jump for joy if she ran 2 miles.. at this point in my life...I would pass out...before the 1st mile! But hey, that's why I'm here!!

Your doing great!! Maybe I can catch up to you one day....

  11. Hi Jen!
GOod plan. Funny comment about the donut - lol! You are so good to be running. It's such torture for me, but burns the calories so much faster!

    Good luck this week!!!

    XOXO
    Jen

  12. MMM...ham! That's so awesome that you're training for a 5K...I would so love to do one.

I too am guilty of late nights online! Maybe if I got more sleep it wouldn't be so hard to get back into my exercise routine? hmmm...

Keep up the awesome work! I think that excercise is honestly more important than diet. Seriously, when I was running before, I didn't have to be so careful about what I ate. But if I missed a few days of running, even if I was eating well, I would still sometimes gain a little!

  13. That's the hardest part, staying out of the baskets! I think I just need to toss it all! Keep up the great work!

  14. Training for a 10k race that's awesome!!! It is so hard to stay focused when life happens, isn't it?
